We are the sugar on your cereal…the spice in your chilli…the peri peri on your chicken…the lemon in your corona…the guarana in your red bull…we bring a distinct flava to the dance world…we are The ColleKtive…with a K…in the middle…(not the start).

Brought together by our passion for dance and performing, as well as talent and skill, we aim to share with others how dance makes us feel and how it has affected our lives. We want to inspire others and their creativity through our contribution to the dance world. We aim to bring something new to the table with everything that we do.

So far, we have been blessed to be a part of many incredible experiences. We have showcased at Wanted (a freestyle hip hop competition raising money and awareness for those less fortunate), Raw Events (singing and dancing competitions held to encourage new generations of performers), Good Friday Charity Workshops, Richmond Chinese New Year Festival 2009, Victoria University Orientation Week and many more upcoming events including competitions such as Australian Hip Hop Championship, Groove and Looze Control (2009).

Individually, many of our dancers/choreographers have had diverse experience in the performance world. Credits include Top 40 in So You Think You Can Dance Australia, back up dancers and choreographer for Timomatic in Australian and Singapore Tours, CKDI Dance Company, selected members are also representing Melbourne in Las Vegas for the World Hip Hop Championships and in San Diego for Body Rock 2009.

Individually we come from different dance backgrounds, ranging from jazz, lyrical jazz, contemporary, musical theatre and tap, a few of us are also lucky enough to have acting, drama and singing experience. The genre that has all brought is together is hip hop. Hip hop has no limits and no boundaries; anything goes. It doesn’t need years and years of technical training; it is all about style, attitude and believing in youself. Hip hop allows dancers to express individuality and just have fun. Dance to us is expression without words; it is expression through movement, music and emotions. We aim to explore and share what hip hop and dance have to offer the greater community.
